Answers to common questions, objections, and misunderstandings regarding Apostolic doctrine, Present Millennialism, restoration theology, biblical holiness, salvation, prophecy, and other topics discussed throughout this website.
01 Present Kingdom
01 When did the Kingdom of God begin?
The Kingdom began when the King came. Jesus announced that the Kingdom was at hand and established it during His earthly ministry.
02 Is Christ reigning now?
Yes. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God and reigns through His Church today.
03 Does the Bible say we are reigning as kings and priests now?
Yes. Christians are translated into Christ's Kingdom and serve as kings and priests under His authority.
04 What about Revelation 20:4–6?
This passage does not say the thousand years come after the Second Coming. That order has to be imported by the reader. In fact, the passage states the rest of the dead living again after the thousand years are finished, while Scripture clearly teaches the resurrection of the saints occurs at the Second Coming of Christ.
05 What is Present Millennialism?
The belief that the thousand-year reign is fulfilled in Christ's present reign through His Church. The Present Millennium will conclude at Christ's Second Coming at the time of the resurrection and the end of the world.
02 General Eschatology
01 What is the Second Coming?
The visible return of Jesus Christ to resurrect the dead, gather His people, and judge the world.
02 Is there more than one future coming of Christ?
Scripture consistently speaks of "His coming" in the singular.
03 When does Christ return?
Jesus said His coming occurs immediately after the Tribulation.
04 What happens at Christ's return?
Resurrection, gathering of believers, judgment, and the end of this present creation. The Apostle Peter says heaven and earth shall pass away and all the elements will be dissolved.
05 Should Christians be watching for signs?
Yes, while remaining faithful and prepared at all times.
03 Resurrection Hope
01 What is the Christian hope?
The resurrection of the dead at the coming of Christ.
02 When are believers raised?
Jesus repeatedly said believers would be raised "at the last day."
03 Did Martha believe in a future resurrection?
Yes. She expected Lazarus to rise in the resurrection at the last day.
04 Why is the resurrection important?
Without it, death would not be fully defeated.
05 Is resurrection bodily?
Yes. The dead will be raised with glorified bodies. Souls will not be coming from heaven to join their resurrected bodies. The whole man — body, soul, and spirit will arise from the grave at the time of the resurrection and the gathering together immediately after the tribulation.
04 Conditional Immortality
01 Is man naturally immortal?
No. Immortality is a gift from God.
02 Who receives immortality?
Those who belong to Christ.
03 What is the wages of sin?
Death.
04 What is eternal life?
A gift given through Jesus Christ.
05 Does the Bible teach that all people live forever?
No. Scripture consistently presents eternal life as something granted by God to the faithful.
05 Covenant Theology
01 What is a covenant?
A binding relationship established by God.
02 Are Christians under the Old Covenant?
No. Christians live under the New Covenant established by Christ.
03 Why is the New Covenant better?
It is founded upon better promises through Jesus Christ.
04 Did Christ fulfill the Law?
Yes.
05 Why is covenant understanding important?
It helps us distinguish between Old Covenant requirements and New Covenant teaching.
06 Tithing
01 Was biblical tithing money?
No. It primarily consisted of agricultural produce and livestock.
02 Who received the tithe?
The Levites and others designated under the Law.
03 Did the Apostles teach Christians to tithe?
No command to tithe is found in the Apostolic writings. In fact, the apostles never once taught, took, or paid tithes.
04 How are Christians instructed to give?
Freely, cheerfully, and not of necessity. Giving should not be directed to the ministry alone. It should also be used to help brothers and sisters in need, including widows, orphans, and those who are struggling to make ends meet. It may also be given to missions and orphanages around the world or anywhere the Lord leads you to give.
05 Is modern church tithing the same as biblical tithing?
No. Significant differences exist between the two systems. The attributes of modern church tithing cannot be found anywhere in Scripture, but are entirely man-made.
07 Women In Ministry
01 Can women serve in the Church?
Yes. Women play important and valuable roles in ministry.
02 Did Paul place limitations on teaching authority?
Yes. Certain teaching and authority roles were reserved for men.
03 Did women participate in the early Church?
Yes. Women prayed, prophesied, served, taught other women, and labored in the Gospel.
04 Is this issue about value?
No. It concerns biblical roles and order. The Apostle Paul reminds us that this order is tied directly to the creation itself.
05 Why is this topic controversial?
Modern culture often approaches the issue differently than Scripture.
08 Apostolic Holiness
01 What is holiness?
Separation unto God in conduct, attitude, and lifestyle.
02 Is holiness optional?
No. Believers are called to live holy lives.
03 Is holiness merely external?
No. It begins in the heart and is reflected outwardly.
04 Why do Apostolics emphasize holiness?
Because Scripture repeatedly commands it.
05 Does holiness save us?
No. Salvation comes through Christ, but holiness is the fruit of obedience.
09 Man-Made Commandments
01 What are man-made commandments?
Religious requirements not taught in Scripture.
02 Did Jesus condemn commandments and traditions of men?
Yes, saying they made the Word of God of none effect. He also said that those who teach them worship God in vain.
03 How can we identify false traditions?
By comparing them with Scripture.
04 Is every church tradition wrong?
No. Only those that contradict, add to, or replace biblical teaching.
05 Why is this important?
God's Word must remain our final authority. Introducing new rules and commands is what the Pharisees were condemned for. This has no place in the Apostolic Church.
10 Exposing Mainstream Errors
01 Why examine popular doctrines?
Truth is determined by Scripture, not popularity.
02 Can sincere people be mistaken?
Yes.
03 Should doctrine be tested?
Absolutely.
04 Why challenge long-held beliefs?
Because all teachings should be measured by God's Word.
05 Is disagreement unloving?
No. Truth and love should work together.
06 Have the modern Apostolic churches inherited false mainstream teachings?
Most have. These would include tithing, women preachers, mixing Law and Grace, and many other man-made commandments, doctrines, and traditions which we cover on this site.
07 What should be our response to a church or pastor that teaches things contrary to the Word of God?
While the Bible says not to bring an accusation against an elder except with two or three witnesses, that is one possible approach. The Bible also tells us that as servants of the Lord, we are to patiently instruct those in error, and that ultimately, they are to be rejected if they refuse.
11 Exposing The Cults
01 What is a cult?
A group that departs from essential biblical truth.
02 Why study cults?
To recognize error and protect believers.
03 Do cults use Scripture?
Often, but usually out of context.
04 What is the best defense against error?
Knowing the truth.
05 Should Christians engage cult members respectfully?
Yes, while firmly defending biblical doctrine.
12 Essential Apostolic Doctrines
01 What is the Gospel?
The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
02 What is the Apostolic response to the Gospel?
Repentance, baptism in Jesus' name, and receiving the Holy Ghost.
03 How many Gods are there?
One.
04 Why baptize in Jesus' name?
Because it is the Apostolic practice found throughout Acts.
05 Is the Holy Ghost for believers today?
Yes.
06 Is the Book of Acts experience still for today?
Yes. The Book of Acts is the blueprint for the New Testament church, and that blueprint was never changed. To change that blueprint, men must create their own plan, and that is exactly what has produced thousands of denominations, traditions, and doctrines that replace or contradict the apostles' teaching.
13 Restoring Apostolic Truth
01 What does restoration mean?
Returning to the teachings and practices of the Apostles.
02 Why is restoration needed?
Because traditions and errors accumulate over time.
03 Is restoration about creating something new?
No. It is about returning to what was originally taught.
04 What is the standard for restoration?
Scripture.
05 What areas are being examined?
Doctrine, practice, worship, church history, and biblical interpretation.
14 General Topics
01 Why study the Bible?
To know God and understand His will.
02 Can Scripture interpret Scripture?
Yes, in fact it must.
03 Why does doctrine matter?
Because truth matters.
04 Is every topic covered on this site?
No. New studies are continually being added.
05 What is the goal of this ministry?
To encourage believers to examine Scripture and return to Apostolic truth. Our emphasis is on the Present Kingdom as a present reality, not merely a future hope, as well as restoring Apostolic giving in place of modern, man-made tithing.
